Ling Bridge spans across the Fenghua River on the boundary between Haishu District and Yinzhou District in Ningbo City, commonly known as the Old River Bridge. Originally made up of a chain of boats, it is one of Ningbo’s ancient large-span floating bridges.
Due to its location in the bustling city, the bridge has always been thriving throughout the ages, despite being repeatedly repaired and rebuilt. By the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, there were proposals to rebuild it. In 1936, with the financial support of the Ningbo Shanghai Hometown Association, the Ling Bridge, constructed by the German Siemens Company, was officially completed. It was designed with a lifespan of 70 years and has become one of the representative modern architectural landmarks of Ningbo.
