Linyi Confucius Temple, also known as ‘Linyi Wenmiao’, is located in Lanshan Street, Linyi City, Shandong Province. It was originally built during the Jin Dynasty and underwent reconstructions and expansions during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In 1998, the Linyi City Government completed its restoration project and designated it as the old site of the Linyi City Museum.
Linyi Confucius Temple is now a group of ancient buildings in the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the entire structure being rectangular, measuring 155 meters in length from north to south and 45 meters in width from east to west. Along the central axis from south to north, there are the front gate, two side rooms, a stele corridor, the Dacheng Hall, and the Minglun Hall, where statues of Confucius, the Four Accompanying Figures, and the Twelve Philosophers are enshrined. The cultural, historical, artistic, and scientific values of the cultural relics within the temple provide a wealth of reliable physical materials for the study of ancient Chinese politics, economy, military, and culture.
