Lishui Ancient Street is built on the water storage embankment on the eastern edge of Yantou Village. The water storage embankment was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, local clans stipulated that only planting flowers and trees and building pavilions were allowed on the embankment, and building houses for business was not allowed. In the Qing Dynasty, the long embankment in Yantou Village became a must-pass road for salt carriers. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the long embankment developed into a commercial street on a preliminary scale. Today’s Lishui Street is a relatively large-scale commercial street in Yantou Village. It is more than 300 meters long and has more than 90 storefronts. Each storefront is about 3 meters wide and 10 meters deep, and is a two-story building. In front of the row of stores, there is a road 2 to 2.5 meters wide vacated. There are eaves covering to facilitate pedestrians to shade from the sun and rain. The southern end of Lishui Street is the south gate of the stockade wall. There is a Chengfeng Pavilion on the high steps beside the gate. Less than 50 meters away from the pavilion, there is also a Jieguan Pavilion with double eaves and a clustered roof, simple and solemn. The two pavilions and the ancient Lishui Bridge add a beautiful landscape to Lishui’s commerce. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
