Litoujian Mountain is located to the north of Cuiheng Village and is named after its resemblance to a ploughshare, standing as a towering peak in Cuiheng. Together with Jinpengrang Mountain and Huangniu Mountain, it forms the geographical advantage of Cuiheng Village, surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing water on one side. Climbing the mountain allows one to overlook the entirety of the Sun Yat-sen’s Hometown Tourist Area and gaze into the distant Qiáo’áo Island of Zhuhai City, as well as the Qiáo’áo Bridge, known as the ‘Qiáo’áo Eight Sights’.
On the mountain are buried Sun Yat-sen’s grandfather, Sun Jingxian, father, Sun Dacheng, elder brother, Sun Mei, and nephew, Sun Chang, along with the Sun family tombs. The tombs are mainly constructed in the traditional round-armchair style, preserving the funeral characteristics of Cuiheng Village. Among them, Sun Jingxian’s tomb is located on the southern peak of Litoujian Mountain, facing the Pearl River Estuary, in an area locally known as ‘Emperor’s Field’, built in the fourth year of the Xianfeng Emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1854). Visitors can follow the stone steps behind the viewing platform to the tomb for a respectful visit. The Litoujian Mountain hiking trail spans 2.6 kilometers in length, with a viewing platform constructed at the highest point of the trail, at an elevation of 97.4 meters. The platform is equipped with two coin-operated telescopes, allowing visitors to enjoy the ‘Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl’ formation formed by Qiáo’áo Island and Tangjia Peninsula, with Jinxing Island in between, and to feel the vast and righteous energy of the Lingdingyang, especially on clear days. A local ballad in Cuiheng Village describes the ‘Emperor’s Field’: ‘Leaning against a screen, sitting on a throne, facing the square jade Emperor’s field. Bays curving on both sides, as if countless people are paying homage together. Above are pavilions and below are towers, a pair of turtles with two horns. Venus and Pearls show a different brilliance, sitting in it and enjoying the world.’ The opening hours are all year round from 09:00 to 18:00.Litoujian Mountain
