Liuheng Island is a tourist paradise with abundant resources. The island is dotted with peculiar reefs and rocks, and ancient towering trees. The blue sky, white clouds, azure sea, and golden sands captivate visitors, making them linger and forget to return. Fresh fish and crabs, along with other seafood delicacies, allow for a leisurely enjoyment of life.
Liuheng Island primarily offers a leisurely journey in a coastal paradise, with a significant feature being the experience of fishermen’s lives and the pleasure of tasting seafood caught by one’s own hands. Key attractions include Xuan Mountain Island and Longtou Jump.
The island spans an area of 93 square kilometers, making it the third-largest island in the Zhoushan Archipelago, following Zhoushan Island and Daishan Island. Agriculture on the island is relatively developed. With a mild and humid climate throughout the year, and abundant rainfall, it is suitable for growing crops such as sweet potatoes, corn, and other staples, especially sweet potatoes which are known for their high yield and fame in Zhoushan.
Before the Yuan Dynasty, Liuheng Island was known as Huanggong Mountain, and it was renamed Liuheng Island starting from the Ming Dynasty. The island has six ridges running from southeast to northwest, resembling snakes, and locals refer to them as ‘heng’, hence the name ‘Liuheng’. The specific opening times are detailed in on-site notices.
