Introduction: Liuliqu Village is located in the eastern part of Mentougou District. The Yongding River flows past the east of the village. Since the Yuan Dynasty, there has been a colored glaze kiln here. It was very prosperous during the Qing Dynasty and was known as ‘the hometown of Chinese imperial colored glaze’. Later, a water channel was built here and it was renamed Liuliqu after liberation.

Liuliqu Village is a thousand-year-old village that has experienced five dynasties including Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing. It has inherited the ancient colored glaze firing technique. The colored glaze products fired here have gorgeous glaze colors and are magnificent. They were not only used exclusively by the imperial palaces in the Ming and Qing Dynasties but are also used in modern times in places such as the Great Hall of the People, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, and Beijing West Railway Station.

To this day, the ancient village still preserves a well-preserved spatial form of a traditional village. The overpass at the east entrance of the village was built in the 21st year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1751). It is the only overpass with a yellow glazed roof in Beijing from the Qing Dynasty. The village preserves architectural relics such as a complete-scale courtyard of a colored glaze manufacturer, the ancient site of Xishan Avenue, and dozens of sets of courtyard houses from the Qing Dynasty.
