The autumn wind of Lixia was one of the eight scenic spots in old Jinan. In midsummer, people come to the Lixia Pavilion island in Daming Lake by boat from under the scorching sun. Suddenly, they feel cool breezes on all sides, the fragrance of lotus overflows, and the whole body feels cool. Especially when autumn comes and the autumn wind suddenly rises, the reeds by the lake sway, which is extremely refreshing. The ancients named this landscape ‘Autumn Wind of Lixia’. Lixia Pavilion is a famous ancient pavilion on the right side of the sea. It is located on the island in the southeast corner of Daming Lake. It is also known as the Ancient Liting Pavilion. It was first built in the Northern Wei Dynasty and was called the Guest Pavilion at that time. In the fourth year of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty (745 AD), the poet Du Fu traveled around Qilu and came to Jinan. Li Yong, Du Fu’s close friend and the prefect of Beihai at that time, learned that Du Fu had arrived. He hurriedly rushed to Jinan from his post and entertained Du Fu and famous scholars in Jinan at the Guest Pavilion. Du Fu improvised a poem ‘Accompanying Li Beihai to Feast at Lixia Pavilion’. Among them, the sentence ‘This pavilion on the right side of the sea is ancient, and there are many famous scholars in Jinan’ is widely known and has become the pride of Jinan. Lixia Pavilion got its name from this and became famous far and wide with the poet’s eternal chant. The current Lixia Pavilion was rebuilt in the 32nd year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1693 AD). Pu Songling wrote ‘Ode to the Ancient Liting Pavilion’ for this, which is now engraved on the wall. The red-background and gold-lettered plaque of ‘Lixia Pavilion’ was written by Emperor Qianlong. The couplets on both sides of the lintel are written by He Shaoji, a calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty. In the imperial stele pavilion to the west, there is a stele engraved with Emperor Qianlong’s poem about his tour of Daming Lake. Opening hours: open all day all year round. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
