Liyu Creek is located in Puyan Village, 5 kilometers from Zhouning County, and is approximately a half-hour drive from Jiulongji. At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, the Zheng ancestors from Xingyang Prefecture migrated here to escape the chaos of war. To prevent others from poisoning the water, they raised carp in the stream and established a clan rule prohibiting the capture and harm of the carp. The villagers have strictly followed this rule, passing it down from generation to generation. The local tradition of not catching or eating carp is still maintained to this day, and they even retain the custom of fish burial. For deceased carp, they perform a ritual of three bows and nine kowtows, recite a 229-word fish eulogy, and then bury them in a fish tomb, which is a local custom.
Liyu Creek has undergone some commercial development and has constructed modern sculptures and buildings, but the rustic atmosphere of the village remains. The entire tour is quite leisurely, allowing visitors to stroll along the village paths and enjoy the scenery. Crossing the Zhenqu Bridge and walking along the Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient street, one can observe the old residential courtyards where people still live, exuding a strong sense of life.
