The Longguzhai scenic area is located in the southeast of Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing. It is a 15-minute drive from the county seat. The regional area is more than 6,000 mu, and the tourist area is more than 5,000 mu. It is adjacent to the Wanshouzhai scenic area and echoes the Huangshui National Forest Park from afar. Longguzhai is famous for its majestic and precipitous scenery and its long history of Buddhist culture. According to the ‘Shizhu County Annals’: Longguzhai is on Longgu Mountain in Sanhui Township. It is surrounded by sheer cliffs on all sides. Only a narrow path leads to the top of the stockade. The top of the stockade is flat. There are three strange rocks in the shape of crabs, lions, and toads, and two small hills in the shape of green lions and white elephants lying in front of the stockade respectively. There is a plank road less than a foot wide connecting the green lion, the white elephant and Longguzhai as a whole. Longguzhai is often surrounded by clouds and mist, and the top of the stockade appears and disappears from time to time. There are countless scenic spots on the stockade, such as the Dragon and Lion Snatching Treasures, three scriptures, a whole shoulder pole, a golden duck, Suomi Cave, the magic altar of the Boxers, and the ancient plank road. The forest landscape resources on the stockade are also very rich, and the scenery is beautiful. It is a good place for summer vacation and leisure.
