At the entrance to the canyon lies the starting point for the ascent of Great Ming Mountain. Among the 13 gorges of Great Ming Mountain, Longmen Gorge is distinguished by its singular charm. Spanning 2100 meters from this point upwards, it boasts the most spectacular natural landscapes and cultural heritage of the entire mountain range. Gazing upward, one is greeted by the majestic sight of seven peaks resembling a vast screen; looking back reveals the canyon’s emptiness and profound depth. Nestled between the mountains and a river, you’ll find boulders filling the valley, clusters of verdant pools, and a series of interconnected waterfalls. This gorge served as the principal thoroughfare for accessing and exiting Great Ming Mountain and the expansive thousand-acre meadow. Zhu Yuanzhang and his military advisor, Liu Bowen, frequently traversed the Longmen Gorge to the thousand-acre field, leaving a trail of relics and legends in their wake.
