Shantou Gu Longquan Rock is located within the territory of Shantou City, and it is a reconstructed tourist area of a famous historical site from the Ming Dynasty. The ancient Longquan Charitable Garden features many interconnected stone caves. Since the Song Dynasty, literati have visited this place for sightseeing and reciting poetry, leaving behind numerous stone carvings. Subsequent generations have built numerous temples here. The mountains contain springs, hence the name Longquan Rock. In 1988, it was listed as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit in Shantou City. Longquan Rock is divided into Upper Rock and Lower Rock. The Upper Rock is a natural stone cave with a huge stone covering the top, capable of accommodating dozens of people. The Lower Rock is an artificial monastery, and only remnants remain today. There are also buildings such as ‘Zilai Rock’, ‘Shixian Pavilion’, and ‘Wenggong Academy’ near the rocks.
