Longtan Lake Scenic Area

Longtan Lake is a natural lake located in Simian Town, Jiangjin County, Chongqing City, with a width of about 100 meters and a length of nearly 3000 meters. It is bordered by the talented and cultured Simian Town on the left and the towering and cloud-piercing Hua Ping Mountain on the right. Looking along the lake, four peculiar peaks soar into the sky, encircled by light smoke and white mist, resembling four painted screens, and evoking the image of the distinctively Chinese Four Gentlemen painting of plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, hence the name Hua Ping Mountain. Rowing on the lake, one can enjoy the sight of white silk-like waterfalls, feel the caress of the breeze, and observe the peculiar flowers and plants in the mountains. If you cross the Longtan Suspension Bridge, you will experience a romantic sentiment described as ‘a dragon rises from the waves, half the lake is traced by tender green, the gentle wind conveys beautiful shadows, and the rosy sun envelops the verdant emotions’. The waters of Longtan Lake gather the coolness of nine streams and the jade-like essence of seven waterfalls, pure and untainted, making it an ideal place for boating and swimming. In the lake, mandarin ducks play in the water, amicably interacting with visitors, always evoking a sense of returning to nature. The scenic area is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening status.
