Longtan, also known as ‘Wulongtan’, is a must-see attraction located 7 kilometers northwest of Ciping in the Longtan Scenic Area. Renowned for its clustered waterfalls, it is referred to as the ‘Five Pools and Eighteen Waterfalls’ and is a notable green landscape in Jinggangshan. Upon entering the scenic area, not far from the entrance, is the Lan Yun Tai platform, where two paths diverge; the right leads to the famous Longtan Wuzhe Waterfall, while the left leads to the Golden Lion Face. The Golden Lion Face, dominated by peculiar rocks, features attractions such as the Water Curtain Fall, Conch Peak, Human Face Cliff, Red Army Cave, and the Red Army Mint, yet it is less frequented by visitors. The main attraction of Longtan remains its waterfalls. To tour the Wuzhe Waterfall of Longtan, one simply follows the footpath downwards, sequentially viewing the pools from the first to the fifth. At the end of the right path from Lan Yun Tai is the Jade Pool. For those who prefer not to walk, a cable car is available at the entrance of the scenic area. The Longtan cableway runs directly from the entrance to the fifth pool below, but only by walking can one get close to the five waterfalls, hence the cableway is typically not used for round trips. Since the path into the scenic area is all downhill, for those who wish to save effort, it is advisable to walk to view the waterfalls and then take the cable car out. The waterfall at Jade Pool is spectacular, with a drop of nearly 70 meters. Standing on the observation platform, the sound of the waterfall thunders into the ears, with the cable cars overhead, creating a very charming scene. Below is the Golden Lock Pool, where the waterfall is hidden in a secluded valley, appearing graceful and touching. The following Pearl Pool and Phoenix Pool are relatively ordinary, while the fifth pool, the Fairy Pool, has an elegant shape. A rock at the waterfall’s outlet splits the water into two streams, which then merge into one and rush down, resembling a fairy dancing. The deep pool below is quite spacious, with a rock slab extending over the void on the right, resembling a diving board, where tourists often linger to take photos. The cable car station at the bottom is not far from the fifth pool. After walking around, one can take the cable car to overlook the landscape from above, offering a unique perspective. Photos taken on a clear day are also very beautiful. The scenic area is open all year round, 24 hours a day.
