Longwan Tan National Forest Park, not far from Shiweiyan, is a newly developed scenic spot along the Nanxi River. It boasts lush forests, beautiful waterfalls, and deep pools. If you are looking for a place that is not too well-known, with fewer tourists, yet truly worth visiting to connect with nature, Longwan Tan is an excellent choice. The main attraction is a series of waterfalls of varying sizes formed by a meandering stream in the mountains.

After entering the scenic area, you will walk along a water-step path and then start your tour along the footpath by the stream. You will successively encounter the Yinchuan Waterfall, where the water forms a ‘Chuan’ character, the Lianhua Waterfall and Zheshan Waterfall under the suspension bridge, and the Dongzhong Waterfall that bursts out from a rock crevice, among others. These waterfalls are uniquely shaped and particularly refreshing in the summer.

During your waterfall exploration, you can also see rocks shaped like a golden turtle playing in water, a panda enjoying the moon, and a one-finger Guanyin statue. When you approach the rock formation known as ‘Eagle Spreading Wings,’ directly in front of you is the last fold of the sevenfold Longwan Waterfall, where the Longtan water is green and clear, representing the essence of the scenic area.

Further up the path, there is a small viewing platform from which you can overlook the entire sevenfold waterfall. The 80-meter-long stream is divided into seven levels, each consisting of a waterfall and a pool, stacked one upon the other, and even more spectacular after heavy rainfall. Starting from the sevenfold waterfall, passing through the Nanmu forest and the suspended plank road, you can reach a higher viewing platform.

Along the way, there are many famous ancient trees in the mountains, making the scenery pleasant. Like Shiweiyan, Longwan Tan has also built a high-altitude glass viewing platform on the clifftop, but this U-shaped platform at Longwan Tan extends out into the air from the cliff wall, far surpassing Shiweiyan in terms of thrill. Standing on the viewing platform, you can see a vast sea of trees, and it is then that you realize the plank road you have been walking on is on the halfway up the opposite cliff, which also looks quite thrilling.

Looking down through the glass of the plank road, the feeling of being suspended more than 300 meters in the air is somewhat frightening. Of course, this is also a great place for photography. The viewing platform is the last attraction of the scenic area, and the entire mountain climb takes about 3 hours. You can then walk down the mountain along the descending path, but there are not many sights to see on the way down.

If you want excitement and to save time, you can also take the scenic area’s slide, which will take you all the way down the mountain. Additionally, near the entrance of the scenic area, there are two Yan-dang Runan trees, and it is worth not missing the opportunity to observe this tree species at Longwan Tan. The park is open every day from January 1st to December 31st, 08:00 to 17:00. Service facilities include a parking lot: [Longwan Tan National Forest Park Parking Lot] with a reference price of ¥10 per time; address: State-owned Zhengjiang Forest Farm entrance, Ji Jia Ao, He Sheng Township, Yongjia County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province; and a capacity of 50 spots.
