Lo’s Family Mansion, the former residence of the merchant Lo Wai-shau (Lo Kau), is a typical Chinese-style mansion constructed with thick blue bricks. It also exemplifies the gentle and delicate architectural style of late Qing Dynasty Guangdong residences.

The building features a layout of three sections and three progressions, with two stories, including halls, rooms, kitchens, and storage rooms.

The structure is equipped with multiple courtyards for ventilation and lighting. It combines common Guangdong regional features such as brick carving, plaster sculpture, horizontal stripes, hanging decorations, and oyster shell windows with Western-style false ceilings, Manchu windows, and cast iron railings. The fusion of these two distinctive decorations is both interesting and reflective of the local residential architecture that blends Chinese and Western styles.

The mansion is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00. A must-see tip: to avoid affecting public visits, any photography or videography activities, other than general commemorative shots, such as wedding photos or model shoots, must be applied for to the Cultural Bureau 20 days in advance. Only after approval can such activities proceed.
