Luobi Cave, also known as Luobi Peak, is a limestone karst cave located at the foot of Yinling, a peculiarly shaped hill. As one moves further inside the cave, the ceiling rises to a height of 20 meters. Two stalactites hanging down resemble two suspended pens, from which the cave derives its name.
There are numerous stone carvings inside Luobi Cave. Two lines of poetry, ‘Luobi Cave, cave, pen falls’ and ‘Jianfeng Ridge, ridge, ridge, peak sharp’, can be read forwards and backwards and are the same.
Luobi Cave also has many stone formations resembling horses, dogs, monkeys, and turtles. Surrounding the cave, there are several lava caves, including the famous Xianlang Cave (also known as Xian Gu Cave) and Fairy Cave, each with its own unique characteristics.
In March 1992, archaeologists discovered a 10,000-year-old site in Sanya at Luobi Cave. It is one of the southernmost sites of China’s Paleolithic culture distribution to date. The cave is open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00. Specific operating conditions are subject to daily opening status.
