Lushan Scenic Area is located by Poyang Lake in Jiujiang City. Nowadays, it has become a mature tourist attraction.
The scenery of Lushan may not be as spectacular and dangerous as the Five Great Mountains, but it is rich in cultural heritage. Generations of literati have left many beautiful lines praising Lushan. Especially Su Shi’s line ‘I don’t recognize the true face of Lushan, only because I am in this mountain’ makes people full of longing.
The green mountains and clear waters, waterfalls, sunrises, and modern villas in the mountains attract many tourists to come and see the ‘true face of Lushan’. Tourists coming to this scenic area usually take a bus to Jiujiang first, and then transfer to a bus. The bus will stop at the gate of Lushan on the way. Tickets can be purchased here to enter, and then continue up to Guling Town.
Guling Town is the tourist distribution center of Lushan. Accommodation, catering, shopping and other issues can all be solved here. It is also the terminus of Lushan sightseeing bus. It is very convenient to walk or take a bus to various scenic spots from here.
The main scenic spots of Lushan are concentrated on the northwest and southeast sides of the mountain. Generally, two or three days are arranged for sightseeing. If time is tight, several main scenic spots can be visited in one day.
The west line gathers the essence of Lushan, such as the rippling Rqin Lake, the shooting location of ‘Romance on Lushan’ – Huajing, and Jinxiu Valley. The scenic spots here are concentrated, and it takes less time and is relatively easy. It is a better route for a one-day tour.
The scenic spots on the east line are far apart and win with magnificence. In addition to scenic spots such as Hanpokou, climbing Wulaofeng, and going down Sandie Spring, there are also old villas such as Meilu and the former site of the Lushan Conference that are worth visiting. But it is relatively exhausting. Sightseeing is mainly on foot. There are sightseeing bus routes in the scenic area that run back and forth between major scenic spots. Walking the whole way is still quite exhausting physically. The combination of sightseeing bus and walking is recommended. In this way, you don’t have to worry about not knowing how to arrange the route. Just follow the sightseeing bus route.
In addition, the Romance on Lushan Cinema in Guling Town will show the 1980 version of ‘Romance on Lushan’. Watching movies here can make you feel the restraint and warmth of that era. Interestingly, because this cinema only shows this one movie every day, it has set a Guinness World Record.
