Mao’ao Museum is the only museum in the province that showcases the 6000-year civilization history of an island fishing village. The museum houses numerous artifacts unearthed from archaeological excavations, vividly depicting the life and cultural formation and development of the island’s ancestors 6000 years ago. Inside the Mao’ao Museum, there are halls such as ‘The First Island Village,’ ‘Sea Salt Culture,’ and ‘Island Folk Customs,’ displaying artifacts including large stone plows from the Neolithic Age, various stone and pottery tools, finely polished ritual vessels, detailing the ancient Mao’ao culture’s connections with Hemudu, Liangzhu, and Eastern culture. In addition to the indoor exhibition areas of the Mao’ao Museum, there are outdoor attractions such as ancient post stations, ancient post roads, ancient beacon towers, ancient beacon fires, Longtan Lake, Zhaojun Mountain beacon tower, Lin’s ancestral hall, antique streets, and earthen mounds. The museum is open all year round from 08:00 to 11:00 and 13:30 to 16:30, with specific business status subject to the day’s opening conditions.
