The Macau Museum is located on Colina da Guia near the Ruins of St. Paul. The Cannon Fort can be visited together. The museum showcases the local history and social changes. Through rich exhibits, it records the process of cultures converging, living in harmony, and forming unique folk cultures in the local area. The museum has three floors. Two of the floors are built under the platform of the Cannon Fort.
Only the upper floor is renovated from the ground building of the original meteorological observatory, thus largely retaining the original architectural style and geomorphological features of the Cannon Fort. After visiting the museum, the Cannon Fort is just outside, where you can overlook the scenery of the entire city. The theme of the first floor of the museum is the primitiveness of local civilization, the origin and development process of the local area. The second floor is about folk art and traditions. The exhibits reveal all aspects of local history, including entertainment, daily lifestyles, religious rituals and celebrations. The third floor shows the characteristics of contemporary urban life and prospects for the future. In addition, some works of well-known writers are also exhibited in the museum, including those of Portuguese writers Camões and Pessanha. The opening hours are from 10:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday to Sunday throughout the year; closed all day on Monday throughout the year. The museum is closed on Mondays (but open as usual on public holidays). The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.Macau Museum
