Maitreya Sheng Yuan is located at the eastern foot of the beautiful Qianfo Mountain. It is composed of the sculpture ‘Happy Maitreya Buddha’, ‘Cherry Blossom Garden’ and ancillary buildings. It combines the essence of Chinese and Japanese garden architecture. The memorial arch at the main entrance of Maitreya Sheng Yuan is of four columns and three gates in soaring style, with a height of 9.9 meters and a width of 12.5 meters. The overall shape is solemn and broad, with extraordinary momentum. The main statue is the big-bellied Maitreya Buddha loved by Chinese people. The whole body of the Buddha is 20 meters high and is welded with 3mm copper plates. The granite lotus throne is about 9 meters high and 30 meters in diameter. It is known as the ‘largest Buddha in northern China’. The Buddha is surrounded by white marble railings. At the back are reliefs recording the legends and life achievements of Maitreya Buddha. The buildings on the east and west sides of the park are symmetrical imitation Qing-style buildings. They are scattered at different heights, combining virtual and real elements, harmonious and unified. They add a long ancient charm to Maitreya Sheng Yuan. The environmental greening of Maitreya Sheng Yuan creates landscapes according to shapes, adapts to local conditions, emphasizes axes, sets off the main scenery, and plants tree species such as cherry blossoms, phoenix trees, pentagonal maples, and white-barked pines, making the entire park shady with green grass and moist pine and cypress. Thus, it creates an ancient, elegant and spacious scenic area that makes tourists linger and forget to return.
