Maoming City Museum is located at No. 20 Renmin North Road, Maoming City. It is a comprehensive museum at the prefecture level and serves as a patriotic education base in Maoming City, under the jurisdiction of the Maoming City Culture, Radio, Television, Press, and Publication Bureau. The museum currently employs 20 staff members and is divided into several departments including the office, cultural relics department, exhibition department, public relations department, and security department.
The museum covers an area of 8,352 square meters with a total construction area of 5,690 square meters. It houses over 1,400 pieces (sets) of various cultural relics. The basic exhibitions include ‘Maoming Museum Historical Cultural Relics Exhibition’, ‘Maoming Folk Customs Exhibition’, ‘Maoming Revolutionary History Exhibition’, and ‘Maoming Stone Mill Culture Exhibition’. The first and second floors are multifunctional comprehensive exhibition halls, capable of hosting various temporary exhibitions of calligraphy, photography, cultural relics, and technology, as well as various meetings and lectures. The museum holds an average of 12 temporary exhibitions and free appraisal activities per year, attracting over 200,000 visitors.
Since 2009, the museum has been successively awarded the title of National Third-Level Museum, Maoming City Patriotic Education Base, and Guangdong Province Party History Education Base. The museum was built in the late 1980s, and its main building and functional settings are no longer in line with the demands of modern development. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 17:30; closed all day on Mondays; and open from 09:00 to 21:00 on National Day, with Mondays closed (special holiday and exceptional opening hours will be notified separately).
