The Marshal Nie Rongzhen Memorial Hall (Former Residence) is located on the western outskirts of Jijiang City District, 46 kilometers away from Chongqing city. The memorial hall covers an area of 105 acres, with the main building adopting a combined architectural concept of monument and museum. The central monument stands 36 meters tall, grand and upright. Atop the monument, a satellite is supported, symbolizing Marshal Nie Rongzhen’s immortal contributions to the Chinese revolution and the scientific and technological endeavors of new China, forever recorded in history.
The bronze statue square is divided into two levels, with a total area of 6600 square meters, offering an expansive view and a majestic presence. The bronze statue of Marshal Nie Rongzhen stands in the center of the upper square, 4 meters tall and 7 meters including the pedestal. The main hall has a construction area of 3647 square meters, with spacious exhibition halls and smooth exhibition lines. It showcases over 200 vivid images, abundant cultural relics, and detailed historical materials, as well as more than 40 models of national defense scientific and technological achievements and a demonstration model of the Xichang satellite launch. This memorial hall vividly presents Marshal Nie’s great contributions to China’s revolution and construction, making it an important base for patriotism, revolutionary tradition, popular science knowledge, and national defense education.
Opening hours: The memorial hall is closed all day on Mondays throughout the year; it is open from 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuesdays to Sundays.
