Mashan National Nature Reserve is located 39 kilometers north of Qingdao City, on the west side of Jimo City. The geographical coordinates are from 120º21’30” to 120º22’02” east longitude and from 36º23’15” to 36º24’46” north latitude. It is composed of five hills: Mashan, Dashan, Bao’an Mountain, Tuanshan, and Changling, covering a total area of 7.7425 square kilometers. Mashan was approved as a national nature reserve by the State Council in 1994 and recognized as a provincial-level geological park by the People’s Government of Shandong Province in 2002. It is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
