Meibei Ancient Village

Meibei Ancient Village is located in Wenbei Town, Qingyuan District, Ji’an City. It is southward facing Mount Zi Yao and northward leaning against Changling. Surrounded by mountains and water, it possesses a natural beauty and boasts abundant natural, historical, and cultural resources. The village currently has 367 well-preserved buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, including 7 ancestral halls, 5 academies, and 3 archways, along with a 900-meter-long ancient street featuring numerous cultural relics and revolutionary sites.

Meibei Ancient Village embodies the profound Lu Ling culture and has always been displayed to the world with its unique charm of integrating literature and martial arts, farming and reading, officials and merchants, red and ancient history, and village and street. Known as the ‘First Village of Lu Ling Culture’, it is the site of the famous ‘February 7th’ meeting in the history of the Chinese revolution, held from February 6th to 9th, 1930, by older proletarian revolutionaries such as Zhu De and Zeng Shan.

The village retains six provincial and municipal cultural relics protection units, including the site of the ‘February 7th’ meeting, the former site of the Gan Nanxi Soviet Government and the Jiangxi Soviet Government, and the former residence of Zhu De. Meibei Ancient Village has produced four generals of the People’s Republic, and it is also the filming location for major revolutionary historical themed films and TV series such as ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Red Star’, ‘Breakup’, ‘Mountains and Waters’, and ‘Jinggangshan’, earning it the titles ‘Village of Generals’ and ‘Village of Films’.
