The Mei’s Chastity Archway is located on the southeast side of Xiaozuo Village, Daji Township, Jingning She Autonomous County, Lishui City. It was built in 1837 (the seventeenth year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty). It was erected for Madam Mei, the wife of Yan Qishang, a child scholar. It is a wooden archway. In 1996, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit of Jingning She Autonomous County. The Mei’s Chastity Archway is relatively well-preserved, with thick materials and exquisite detailed carvings. It has extremely high historical and humanistic value. Some carvings on the chastity archway, such as those of officials who requested permission to build the archway carved in wood, are also well-preserved. This has important empirical significance for studying the filial piety and etiquette system in the Lishui area during the Qing Dynasty.

Opening hours: Open all day throughout the year.
