Meishan Island is the only island township located in the southeast of Beilun District, Ningbo City, surrounded by the sea on all sides. It faces the Zhitou Ocean to the east, borders the Tingzu Port to the south, overlooks the Fodou and Liuheng Islands across the sea from Zhoushan City to the north, and is adjacent to the fourth phase of the Ningbo Port terminal. It is the only undeveloped land in Beilun District. Nestled in the East China Sea, Meishan Island is akin to a sea garden, neighboring the Buddhist kingdom of Putuo Mountain, and is the only island in Ningbo City that retains its marine wetlands.
Meishan Island is renowned for its ‘Silver Coating’ (sea flats and salt fields) and ‘Three Flowers’ (salt flowers, plum blossoms, and fish flowers), earning it the title of a ‘world of flowers’ from experts. The vast sea flats are rich in various rare seafood, and the boundless salt fields have nurtured a long-standing salt culture. The eastern side of Meishan Island features the Qinglong and Puse Islands, which offer a unique island charm, making them ideal for wave-chasing, beach-combing, shell collecting, oyster picking, clam digging, birdwatching, and outdoor camping.
