Meishan Temple is located in Huangbian Village in the northeast of Shiqiao Town and on the southeast side of Panyu Yingbin Road Overpass. It was built in 1506, the first year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty. It has a history of more than 500 years and was built by Su Xuan, a descendant of Su Dongpo. To commemorate this famous writer, calligrapher, painter and poet in the Northern Song Dynasty, it is named after Meishan in Meizhou, where Su Dongpo originally came from (now Meishan City, Sichuan Province), so it is called Meishan Temple.
Meishan Temple is a Buddhist holy place in Panyu. However, since its completion, it has endured many vicissitudes and disasters. It was not until the early 1990s that with the enthusiastic donations from kind-hearted people from all walks of life and compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao, the main hall of the Great Buddha could be renovated. There is an old banyan tree commemorating Su Dongpo in the temple. It is lush and luxuriant, with intertwined branches and coiled roots, presenting a magnificent sight.Opening hours: Open all day throughout the year.
