Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC

The Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC consists of four identical three-story wooden buildings, facing south to north, with internal cross-doors for interconnection. Each building measures 4 meters in width and 12.8 meters in depth. The ground floor serves as shops and residences, while the second and third floors were the offices for the Guangdong District Committee and the Guangdong District Committee of the Youth League.

The offices were separated by wooden partitions. The third floor was specifically designated for the various departments of the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC. The conference room, with two long rectangular tables in the center and rows of wooden benches surrounding, was a regular venue for district committee meetings. The second floor housed the reception room of the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC and the offices of the Guangdong District Committee of the Youth League.

It was here that the official newspapers of the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC, ‘People’s Weekly,’ and the Youth League’s ‘Young Pioneer,’ were edited and published. After the ‘April 15th’ counter-revolutionary incident in 1927, both the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC and the Youth League’s District Committee moved to Hong Kong, and the buildings were subsequently used as residential housing.

In 1960, the site was restored to its original state and is now open as the Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Guangdong District Committee of the CPC. The hall is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00 all year round; it is closed all day on Mondays, with specific operating conditions subject to daily opening status.
