Menglianggu Tourist Area is located in the heart of the Yimeng Mountain Range, in the north of Quanqiao Village, Duozhuang Town, southeast of Mengyin County. It features steep peaks and dense vegetation, and is a nationally renowned base for revolutionary tradition, patriotism, and national defense education. The main peak of Menglianggu stands at an elevation of 575.2 meters, named after the Song Dynasty’s Yang family general Mengliang who is said to have stationed troops here. In May 1947, this place set an example in the history of the People’s Liberation War for mountain warfare and rapid decision-making, turning the tide in the East China theater. As a result, Menglianggu became famous worldwide and is hailed as the ‘Hero Menglianggu’. The scenic area is divided into two parts: the Menglianggu Memorial Exhibition Area and the Menglianggu Battle Site Exhibition Area. The battle memorial hall is magnificent and uses high-tech methods to reenact the battle of Menglianggu in 1947 for visitors. The battle site scenic area has added more than forty scenic spots, including wartime weapons like airplanes and artillery for visitors to admire, as well as military projects such as horse riding, archery, zip-lining, sliding, machine guns, and antique cannons for visitors to participate in for free, offering thrilling experiences. The Menglianggu Memorial Exhibition Area consists of three parts; the Menglianggu Martyrs Cemetery includes a large statue, a stele corridor, the battle memorial hall, and martyrs’ graves, with the Heroes Pavilion housing a martyrs’ tower engraved with the names of 2859 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Menglianggu battle. Opening hours are from 09:00 to 16:00 all year round. Preferential policies: Children under 1.4 meters (not including) enter for free; students with full-time undergraduate and below qualifications enjoy half-price with valid documents; seniors aged 60 and above enter for free with an elderly card or ID; active-duty military personnel and retired military officers enter for free with valid documents; disabled persons enter for free with a disability certificate; and teachers enter for free on Teacher’s Day with valid documents.
