The Bai Sha Meteorite Crater is located 9 kilometers southeast of Ya Cha Town, within the territory of Bai Sha Farm, with a diameter of 3.7 kilometers. It is the first meteorite crater discovered in our country, formed by the explosion of a small planet that fell here about 700,000 years ago. The circular ridge around the meteorite crater is well-preserved, with only a gap at the southwest edge due to erosion from two streams. Standing inside the meteorite crater, one can look around and see lush vegetation. On the gentle slopes, tea trees are densely planted in rows, exuding a vibrant green. It is hard to imagine that 700,000 years ago, a meteorite fell from the sky here, impacting the earth and causing rocks to shatter and melt, with magma splashing around in a spectacular event. Scientists have found meteorite fragments in the crater, discovering typical minerals that only exist in meteorites. The type of meteorite is chondrite-free, spherical and flattened, weighing 3.75 kilograms, with a hard texture, and it is the only such discovery in the country to date. Bai Sha Meteorite Crater is currently the only relatively young meteorite crater in our country that can be identified and is one of the dozen meteorite craters in the world that are accompanied by meteorite fragments.
