Mituo Buddhist Temple is located at Yuanbao Peak, Gongnan Mountain, Konghua’ao, Yanjiang Town, Linhai. The temple was built in the Tang Dynasty. The specific time is unknown. It was originally named Mituo Nunnery. During the reign of Empress Wu Zetian (684 – 704), Huaiyu, a eminent monk of the Pure Land Sect, once lived in the temple for meditation. In the third year of Zhining period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1066), it was granted the name ‘Jingming Courtyard’. Chen Gongfu, a vice minister of the Song Dynasty, once rested in the temple and read scriptures. The temple has experienced prosperity and decline in different dynasties. In 1986, Monk Jinghua presided over the renovation. From 1993 to 1994, new auspicious pavilions, Feixi Pavilion, Maitreya Hall, and fish releasing pond were built. Now it is a Buddhist activity place in Linhai. Supplementary note on preferential policies: 1 adult ticket.
