The Miyun Museum, situated on Xibinhe Road in Miyun County, Beijing, occupies the former residence of the Grand Princess from the Qing Dynasty. In 2002, it relocated to its current, modern museum building. This freestanding, two-story structure maintains a circular design, with each floor dedicated to different aspects of Miyun’s rich history and culture.
The upper floor of the museum is a chronological journey through the various cultural relics of Miyun, from ancient times to the present. It features a pestle and mortar culture exhibition, as well as a cultural relics donation exhibition by private entrepreneur Liu Zhenxiang. Visitors can explore images of ancient buildings, ruins, and tombs, alongside physical artifacts such as stone tools, pottery, porcelain, bronze ware, iron ware, and ancient coins from various dynasties.
Descending to the lower floor, one finds an ethnic folk culture exhibition, showcasing photo introductions of ethnic costumes and house buildings. This level offers a deeper insight into the region’s diverse cultural heritage.
Among the museum’s treasures, one can admire precious cultural relics such as the black pottery ru tripod, pre-Qin hot pot, inner palace plum vase, shadow green jade vase with a peony design, tri-colored glazed pottery from the Tang Dynasty, and tri-colored glazed pottery from the Liao Dynasty.
The museum is open to the public from 08:30 to 11:30 and from 13:30 to 17:30 all year round. However, please note that the specific business status may vary depending on the day’s opening situation.
