The Sky Bridge elegantly spans over a stream, with one end connecting the bamboo path that leads uphill, towards the profound bamboo forests, and the other end connecting to the descending stone steps. The stone steps are quite steep, spiraling down for over ten meters, below which lies a small pond and a modest flower garden. On foggy days, looking from the flower garden, the mist submerges everything, leaving only the bridge faintly visible. The sky and clouds blend into one, making the bridge appear as if it’s in the heavens, which is likely the origin of its name. A few steps down from the left side of the Sky Bridge, there is a pavilion with green tiles and red pillars. Within a relatively small area, from the Sky Bridge down to the pavilion, and then to the flower garden, there are three distinct levels, yet there is no sense of confinement. Next to the small pond, several banana trees are planted, and the flower garden is filled with seasonal blooms. From top to bottom, they integrate harmoniously, showcasing a skillful layout. These scenes are deeply rooted in the bamboo sea. On sunny days, sunlight filters through the leaves; within the forest, quiet birds chase each other, creating an extremely tranquil environment, yet not one that feels lonely. Visitors to this place naturally calm their minds and purify their thoughts. The Tang Dynasty poet Chang Jian wrote in his poem ‘Inscription on the Back Zen Courtyard of Broken Mountain Temple’: ‘The bamboo path leads to a secluded place, where the Zen room is deep with flowers and trees.’ ‘Mountain flowers delight the nature of birds, while the reflection in the pool empties the human mind,’ expressing the serene and profound atmosphere of this place. The entire area is open all day, every day of the year.
