In 1934, the monument to the fallen soldiers of the 88th Division of the National Army in the Battle of Songhu was erected. This initiative was led by Zhou Tianchu, a painter from Hangzhou, who was instrumental in raising funds for the monument. The renowned sculptor, Liu Kaiqu, personally crafted the monument to honor the soldiers of the National Revolutionary Army who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Battle of Songhu Resistance.
