The Monument to the People’s Heroes is located in the center of Tian’anmen Square in Beijing. It is one of the well-known buildings on Tian’anmen Square and also one of the symbolic buildings of the republic. Every day, it attracts a large number of tourists to come and pay their respects. The Monument to the People’s Heroes is made of granite and white marble, nearly 40 meters high, and is very spectacular.
It is divided into three parts: the monument body, the pedestal, and the base. On the front of the monument body are the eight characters ‘The people’s heroes are immortal’. On the back is an inscription. The pedestal has two layers. The lower layer is in the shape of a begonia, and the upper layer is square. Around the two layers of bases in the middle are garlands composed of peonies, lotuses, chrysanthemums, and drapes, as well as eight huge white marble reliefs.
