A footpath, by definition, is a small urban path designed for walking only. Chongqing is a city built on hilly terrain, where the elevation difference between adjacent areas can reach dozens of meters, and transportation relies on these climbing paths. Historically, many famous footpaths were bustling, with numerous old sites of Chongqing located along these paths. However, with large-scale urban renewal and improved transportation conditions, these footpaths have gradually lost their function, and some have disappeared or become overgrown. Some of the surrounding famous historical sites have also been forgotten and faded into the long river of history… The recently restored third footpath is a representative example. This footpath is located on the south-facing slope of the Yuzhong Peninsula, stretching from north to south, passing by the Zhongshan Hospital, Kangjian Hall, Bodhi Vajra Pagoda, the former site of the French Charitable Hall, and the suspended plank road, with a total length of 1748 meters. It compactly connects a series of traditional neighborhoods and historical and cultural relics. The highest point of the footpath is near the Bodhi Vajra Pagoda, and the lowest point is at the entrance of the Mountain City Alley, with a height difference of 79.5 meters. It is a footpath that embodies the unique characteristics of the mountain city of Chongqing. The footpath is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
