Mu Li Hong (pronounced ‘hong’, similar to ‘red’), located in Xikou Town, Xiuning County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, is perched atop a ridge of the Huangshan mountain range, echoing with the famous Wulong Mountain within Xiuning. The village, suspended on three sides, is known for its perennial sea of clouds, from which it derives its name. Mu Li Hong, enveloped in clouds, resembles a fairyland and is acclaimed as the ‘Penglai of the sky, Mu Li Hong of the world’.
Mu Li Hong boasts three major scenic attractions: First, the Hui-style architecture, which is celebrated as one of the most beautiful highland ancient villages in Huangshan City. The orderly arrangement of buildings makes the best viewing spot from the front mountain opposite Mu Li Hong. The entire village resembles the shape of a camel.

Second, the sea of clouds, which frequently appears during spring and autumn, envelops the entire village, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

Third, the sunrise, which requires a bit of effort to witness. One must hike up a mountain path to a higher vantage point to enjoy the gradual emergence of the sun, accompanied by the vast mountains and the sea of clouds.

Mu Li Hong is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day. Essential tips for visitors include the availability of lodges and homestays on the mountain, all with a uniform pricing: 90 yuan per person during holidays and 80 yuan per person on regular days, with only a few exceptions charging higher rates. It is advisable to stay overnight for better rest, to enjoy local farmhouse cuisine, and to gaze at the stars at night.
