The Mulan Temple is located in Dazhou Village, Yingkuo Town, 35 kilometers south of Yucheng County. Originally constructed during the Tang Dynasty, it has been renovated in the Jin, Yuan, and Qing dynasties. The temple once covered an area of over ten thousand square meters, including a main gate, main hall, offering hall, rear building, and wing rooms. Inside the main hall stands a statue of the heroic Mulan in military attire, along with sculptures and murals depicting her military service in place of her father, her battles, and her triumphant return.

The temple houses two steles: one is the ‘Record of the Identification of the Filial and Brave General’ stele from the Yuan Dynasty’s Yuantong period (1334), which confirms Mulan’s identity and her title as the Filial and Brave General, as well as the ‘Ballad of Mulan’. The other is the ‘Correcting Errors and Naming the Filial and Brave General’ stele from the Qing Dynasty’s Jiaqing period (1806).

The legendary heroine, Mulan, who disguised herself as a man to join the army in place of her father, is from Yingkuo Town, Yucheng County, Shangqiu. Mulan, whose surname is Wei and given name is Mulan, joined the military in place of her father during the Sui Dynasty and has been celebrated for centuries. Opening hours are from 8:00 to 17:30 all year round.
