The Natural Gateway, situated at the eastern end of Nan’ao Island in Qing’ao Bay, is the 11th Tropic of Cancer monument built in China to date.
It stands as a unique landscape on the Tropic of Cancer within our country and will play a significant role in the study of astronomy and geography worldwide. When the sun is directly overhead at the Tropic of Cancer, the shadow will pass through the central tube of the sphere above and project onto the central platform, making it one of the new attractions in Nan’ao. The construction of the Tropic of Cancer monument at Qing’ao Bay adds a new member to the family of Tropic of Cancer monuments and represents another step for humanity to gain a deeper understanding of the Tropic of Cancer and the Earth.
