Nanshan Park is located in the southeast of the urban area. It consists of Nanshan Mountain, Santai’anshan Mountain and sports venues. The park has seven scenic areas:
1. The Fushou Culture Scenic Area. It is composed of a mountain gate with cultural charm, a music fountain, cliff carvings of “Fu” (good fortune) and “Shou” (longevity), a fish viewing pond, an artificial viewing waterfall, a flower nursery, etc.
2. The Youran Culture Scenic Area. This scenic area is composed of pavilions, terraces, towers, attics, the Jingwei Bridge, winding corridors, viewing platforms, as well as a chrysanthemum garden, “Ode to Nanshan”, inscribed stones, etc., forming a landscape with ancient architectural forms as the main axis.
3. The Garden Culture Scenic Area. It is composed of the Nanshan Chess Academy in the style of Suzhou gardens, and stone inscriptions of “To alternate tension with relaxation is the way of sages”.
4. The Nanshan Great Wall Culture Scenic Area. It is composed of the Nanshan Great Wall, the Minhang Corridor, Xiawei Garden, the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower, etc. The length of the Nanshan Great Wall is about 1,300 meters. It is scattered in height, with proper openings and closings, changing with the terrain.
5. The Cultural Corridor Scenic Area. It is mainly composed of a botanical garden, Longzhi Pavilion, the Care for Girls Cultural Park, the Women’s Cultural Corridor, etc. The botanical garden covers an area of more than 60 mu. The main scenic spots include the Nine-Dragon Wall, a stream, artificial flower beds, etc.
6. The Mid-Mountain Culture Scenic Area. The main landscapes include the Lansheng Pavilion built along the mountain, the Acacia Garden, the Qingqi Garden, the Exotic Stone Garden, the Pine Forest Garden, the Bamboo Garden, the Ornamental Forest Belt, Tianyi Pavilion, etc.
7. The Mountain Top Fitness and Leisure Culture Scenic Area. Here there are standard tennis courts, a small football field, a gateball court, a basketball court, as well as stone carvings of realistic swordsmanship, fan dance, shuttlecock exercise, weightlifting, etc., and the Nanshan Club, the viewing platform of the Third Tianren Pavilion. Standing at the better viewing place – the “Tianren Pavilion”, you will suddenly feel broad-minded, and a heroic sentiment of “I will ascend the mountain’s crest; it dwarfs all peaks under my feet” will arise spontaneously.
