The Nanshan Sea Guanyin Statue is a 108-meter tall statue of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. It is located on the Vajra Platform (Guan Yin Island) in front of the Nanshan Temple and has a majestic and solemn appearance. The statue features an integrated three-in-one form of the upright Avalokitesvara, standing on a lotus throne with one hundred and eight petals.
As a renowned Buddhist structure in Sanya, the Nanshan Sea Guanyin Statue is also a famous place for blessings. Under the lotus seat of the Sea Guanyin is the Vajra Terrace, which houses the 15,000 square meter Yuantongbao Hall. The Vajra Platform is connected to the mainland by a 280-meter-long Puji Bridge.
You can reach the site either by taking the scenic area’s battery car, which is one stop after the Thirty-Three Avalokitesvara Hall, or by walking within the scenic area. If you choose to walk, after passing the Nanshan Temple and the elephant stone sculpture, turn left and walk about 1 kilometer to reach the 108-meter tall Sea Guanyin. The entire site is open year-round from 08:00 to 17:00.
