Nantou Ancient City, also known as Xin’an Ancient City, was originally established during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 331), and it has a history of over 1,000 years. Today, the ancient city area still retains the South Gate and the East Gate, which are nestled among the surrounding residential buildings. Strolling through it, you will find historical sites such as the Wen Tianxiang Temple and the Xin’an Tobacco House.
Outside the South Gate, there is a Nantou Ancient City Museum, which displays numerous cultural relics, quietly narrating the city’s past glory.
