Nan Hot Spring Scenic Area is nestled in the mountains along the Huaxi River to the south of the Yangtze River in Banan District, 18 kilometers away from the city center. The scenic area is centered around Nan Hot Spring Park, with additional sites such as the ‘Capital’ relics and Jianwen Ruins. The central tourist area spans 20 hectares, including 7 hectares of water surface and 16 hectares of green space. It is divided into four major scenic spots: Daquan Scenic Spot, Huayuan Scenic Spot, Fairy Cave Scenic Spot, and Zhushi Garden Scenic Spot, boasting 344 species of plants across 121 families and 269 genera.
The sulfur-rich hot springs of Nan Hot Spring Park originate from Jianyu Mountain, with water temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius and a flow rate of over 120 tons per hour. Bath pools were first established during the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874), and swimming pools were added after the liberation. In addition to Nan Hot Spring, there are five other famous springs in the scenic area. Outside Jianwen Peak, there is an ancient well called ‘Yuquan’, known for its clear and sweet spring water.
