The National Library of China’s Rare Books Museum was established in July 2012 with the approval of the Central Institutional Commission Office, by adding a plaque to the National Library, which also became the National Library of China’s Rare Books Museum; it is located in the South Area of the National Library’s main building. On September 9, 2014, the day of the National Library’s 105th anniversary, the museum officially opened.
This museum is a unique addition to the National Library, offering a new form of book and manuscript viewing. Since August 1, 2014, the National Library of China’s Rare Books Museum has started accepting visitors. On the day of the museum’s opening, a grand exhibition of the National Library’s collection was held. Opening hours are from August 29 to July 17, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:00; closed all day on Mondays; from July 18 to August 28, Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-20:00; and on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, and Dragon Boat Festival, 09:00-17:00; on Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, 09:00-20:00.National Library of China’s Rare Books Museum
