The National Medical Town project in Conghua, Guangzhou, spans an area of 10,000 mu. The project is centered around traditional Chinese medicine culture, integrating health tourism, ecological health preservation, and science popularization education of traditional Chinese medicine. It is developed in three phases with three main bodies: ‘Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Expo Park’, ‘Guangdong Ma Lou Mountain Southern Medicinal Forest Park’, and ‘Lingnan Folk Custom Homestay Cultural Village’.
Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Expo Park: With the theme of promoting the history and culture of traditional Chinese medicine, the park features various cultural attractions and garden landscapes for visitors to tour, experience, and learn.
Guangdong Ma Lou Mountain Southern Medicinal Forest Park: Dedicated to the protection of forest and medicinal resources along the Tropic of Cancer, the park is guided by traditional Chinese medicine culture, offers experiences in health and wellness, and combines forest agriculture production with the ecological and technological advantages of the forest to create a large southern medicinal industry system.
Lingnan Folk Custom Homestay Cultural Village: Led by the local government and based on the Lingnan Chinese Medical Culture Expo Park, the village utilizes local natural resources to create an atmosphere of Lingnan style and traditional Chinese medical culture. It develops services such as homestay for tourists, health preservation and elderly care services with Chinese medical techniques, beauty services, and health preservation medication services.
The National Medical Town aims to create a unique health and wellness tourism town that combines Lingnan traditional Chinese medicine culture with forest ecology. After ten years of development and construction, the town has become a national base for the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine culture by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a key construction base for forest health by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
