The Jinghu Wetland Natural Science Museum in Shaoxing City is located in Yuecheng District, Shaoxing City. As of September 2020, according to the information of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, there are currently 5,390 pieces/sets of collections. In June 2022, it was selected into the list of museums (memorial halls) in Zhejiang Province (2021). The museum consists of two exhibition halls: the ‘Natural Ecology Exhibition Hall (The Mysteries of the Animal Kingdom)’ and the ‘Triassic Paleontological Fossil Exhibition Hall (Ancient Marine Fossil Hall)’. Natural Ecology Exhibition Hall: The building area is more than 5,400 square meters, and the exhibition area is more than 3,600 square meters. More than 5,000 biological specimens are on display. Among them, plastinated specimen technology is a currently emerging specimen preservation technology. It can fully display the internal structure and decomposition system morphology of organisms, so as to understand their functions and the occurrence and development of organisms. Plastinated specimens are used for specimen display and scientific research teaching in museums, especially suitable for biology teaching for primary and middle school students. Triassic Paleontological Fossil Exhibition Hall: The building area is more than 1,600 square meters, and the exhibition area is more than 1,500 square meters. It mainly exhibits various paleontological fossil specimens unique to China’s Mesozoic Triassic. The Mesozoic Triassic geological era is an extremely important geological historical period in the history of Earth’s evolution and the history of paleontology, showing the magnificent picture of land and sea changes and biological evolution from 250 million to 200 million years ago. The fossil specimens displayed in the museum are carefully selected from early Triassic paleontological fossils, including ichthyosaurs, crinoids and other ancient marine organisms. A total of more than 270 exhibits of 36 varieties are on display. Among them, 58 exhibits are very precious fossil samples and attract the attention of domestic and foreign paleontological experts. Open all year round from 09:00 to 17:00. Preferential policies for children: Free for those under 1.1 meters (excluding); discounted for those between 1.1 meters (including) and 1.3 meters (excluding).
