Located in the Nanshan Street of Nan’an District, the former site of the American Military Guesthouse is a three-sided colonnade-style building, featuring a blend of Chinese and Western eclectic architectural styles with mountain characteristics, which holds reference value for studying the development history of modern architecture in Chongqing.

The entire structure is built on a foundation made of stone blocks, with six columns outside each brick wall, each column supported by a pedestal in the shape of an inverted basin. The roof is made of small blue tiles and features a hip roof design.

This building was constructed in 1898 by the Swedish Andersson. In the 1930s, it served as the residence of the independent brigade commander of the 21st Army of the Nationalist Government, Yuan Xiaoru. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was repurposed as the American Military Guesthouse.
