Olympic Forest Park – National Tennis Center

The tennis courts are located on the west side of the park. The three main courts are designed in a regular dodecagon shape, with each of the 12 sides representing a spectator stand. Coupled with the fair-faced concrete gray-white exterior walls, they resemble 12 petals stretching towards the sky, like three blossoming flowers in the forest. The tennis courts feature an innovative design not yet seen in the world’s tennis courts – a natural ventilation circulation cooling system.

The 12 spectator stands are equipped with several devices to harness natural wind, which, through internal circulation facilities, directs airflow from the surrounding outlets towards the playing area. This system effectively reduces the temperature of the court area, providing relief from the heat in the spectator stands.

The main court and Court No. 3 are designed to form three different activity areas based on the gradient of the ground, creating three gradually elevated rectangular platforms that cut into the forest backdrop from west to east. The outer area is designated for pre-matches, while the higher platforms house the central court and Court No. 1. The spectator activity area is situated above the platforms, while VIPs, athletes, and media personnel are arranged below, cleverly adapting to the competition functions and achieving a three-dimensional separation of the flow of spectators and competitors.
