One of the ten most luxurious mansions on Gulangyu Island, a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit and a key architectural style building, the renowned ‘Filial Piety Building’. Constructed by the Philippine tobacco tycoon for his mother, this building features vibrant colors and a distinctive design. The harmonious and skillful fusion of certain Rococo characteristics with traditional Chinese craftsmanship is rarely seen among the villas on Gulangyu Island.
Its elegant charm remains undiminished, and it has been frequently chosen by film directors for shooting multiple films such as ‘Liao Zhongkui’, ‘Autumn in Spring’, and ‘Earth Building People’.

Now open to the public as a non-material cultural heritage exhibition hall, it offers guided tours at regular intervals, explaining the architectural features of the building, various non-material cultural heritage treasures on display, the history of the tobacco tycoon’s rise to wealth, and the extraordinary stories of his filial acts of distributing silver dollars at the entrance for his mother.

The opening hours are 09:30-18:00 all year round; during National Day, the opening hours are extended to 09:00-20:00.
