Ouyang Chi is located at the northern foot of Ye Mountain in Gulou District, Fuzhou City, on the east side of the northern end of Gu Ping Road. During the Song Dynasty, Cheng Shi Meng founded the Ouyang Pavilion here and wrote a poem along with a postscript, stating: ‘In the following year after my arrival in the state, a new son city was built. In the northeast corner of the city, there were dense shrubs overshadowing the area, which led to the opening of the path.

When I inquired about this water, someone replied, ‘Ouyang Chi.’ In front of the ‘Xi Yu Xuan’ pavilion by the pool, there stand two steles, one named ‘The Ancient Site of Ouyang Zi Casting Swords’ and the other ‘Fuzhou Municipal Government Cultural Preservation Unit.’ Opposite to Ouyang Chi, there is a stele for ‘San Huang Miao Wu Long Tang Official Land,’ which reads: ‘Established in the fifth year of Tai Ding (1328 AD, Yuan Dynasty) by the order of Xu Congxuan, the Fuzhou Min Hai Dao Su Zheng Lian Fang Si.

‘ Ouyang Chi is open to the public all year round, with full-day access.
